Everything about teeth whitening

As time passes by, some alimentary customs, as well as the way one deals with our dental hygiene, can cause our teeth to yellow. As a remedy, Ardentis offers you different teeth whitening methods to bring your dazzling smile back. Let us explain.

Café

Between tooth brushing that we tend to rush, coffee or tea that we drink regularly, it is likely that we observe progressive teeth yellowing over the years. Luckily, a range of teeth whitening does exist. Indeed, different types of treatments can help you to get a dazzling smile back.

More specifically, teeth whitening consists of brightening the tint of your teeth. To do so, we use eclectic techniques depending on if teeth to whiten are alive or devitalized. Among Ardentis clinics all these methods are practiced daily which led the group to acquire well-renowned expertise on the matter. Let us explain them all.

Dr Lorenzo

Express whitening

It consists of a simple procedure that targets superficial colorations. It is quick as it only takes 15 minutes in one of our clinics. To get the best of it and obtain a “wow” effect on the spot, we recommend you book it once a year as an add-on to your tartar removal with your hygienist.

In-clinic whitening

This procedure is only provided in-clinic. During the treatment, a highly concentrated solution is applied to your teeth. It is a procedure that targets light colorations. The session lasts from around 1h15 to 1h30.
We recommend this method if you are in a hurry or if you are looking for an instantaneous result (i.e., for a wedding).

At-home whitening

This technique is distinguishable by the fact that you are doing it yourself. The first step is for us to manufacture custom-made trays thanks to a numeric impression and the printing of a 3D modeling of your teeth. This type of treatment offers long-lasting results and lasts for a period from 3 to 15 days. The trays must be worn 1h a day or for the whole night depending on your preferences. If you have sensitive teeth, we can also adapt the concentration of the solution to be used.

Boost whitening: a smart combination of “In-clinic” and “At home” whitening

The two procedures can be combined. The association of the two types of treatment is made for our patients who want to obtain a very bright and long-lasting tint.

Is teeth whitening bad for my teeth?

As explained, there are a few ways to whiten your teeth. But how can you know if the products available on the market can harm your dentition?

Mechanical action products

Whitening dental pastes use abrasive materials that have a striping action on teeth’ surfaces. This type of toothpaste is more abrasive than classical toothpaste. It eliminates the enamel’s superficial layer that gets its coloration from contact with food and drinks. These products can irritate gingiva and teeth, and cause bleedings. Thus, they can be useful from time to time to eliminate colorations, but we recommend you only use them on an occasional basis.

Chemical action products

To understand how they work let’s first see what our teeth are made of. They are mainly made of a porous mineral phase (enamel) which can be penetrated by particles from drinks, food, or cigarette. Chemical action products will deteriorate these particles leaving teeth’ enamel intact.

Professionals backed products

We prefer these renowned products like carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. The products you can find yourself, online for instance, very often do not have a sufficient concentration and are therefore inefficient. The usage of highly concentrated and efficient solutions is reserved for professionals. Our experts assist you in the choice of your whitening.
